I just started using the 2 column, XP style start menu. I am getting it just how I like it.

I used a custom link in Classic Shell, to create a link to my recycle bin.

Only problem is, that there is now a line just on top of it--see here: www.paulrittman.com/StartMenu.png

When I open up the settings menu, and click on the Customize Start Menu tab, there is nothing about the custom icon that I created, in the Current Menu Items pane on the left side.

Is there a way for me to move that line down to just over the programs menu? If not, I could get by with just removing that line, altogether.

Drag the recycle bin item after the COLUMN PADDING element.
"COLUMN PADDING" marks the blank area in the menu..

Originally I had another pic there. But then I realized that I forgot to upload the new screenshot, which, judging from your second post, I believe you can see (the second, new one).

As far as dragging column padding--I did that, but that still keeps that dividing line on the start menu. I'd like to either remove that line altogether, or move it directly above the programs link.

You can't remove the line. It separates the custom items from the rest.
If you want to put recycle bin above it, then you have to add it as pinned shortcut, not as a custom item.
Or you can modify the skin to have a fully transparent separator for the first column of the main menu.

OK, I just opened it up, then put a shortcut on the start menu.

Thanks.
